What you can contribute
- Take overall responsibility and lead the communication, dissemination and external relations strategy of the FSO
- Take responsibility for internal and external communication, including media communication, institutional communication and crisis communication of the FSO
- Drive the strategy for national and international relations, represent and position the FSO and Switzerland within high-level bodies
- Take responsibility for the publication of statistical results as well as all publishing and dissemination activities of the FSO
- Assume strategic responsibility for managing the office’s themes, issues and stakeholders
- Contribute to defining the strategic direction and ensuring the development of the FSO as a member of the executive board
What makes you unique
- University degree in communication and media sciences, international relations, political science, or equivalent qualification
- Several years of experience in leadership positions in communication, international cooperation and complex multi-stakeholder management
- Proven expertise in bilateral and multilateral cooperation as well as international negotiations
- Excellent multilingual communication skills, proven sense of innovation in digital communication forms and channels
- Active knowledge of two official languages and passive knowledge of the third, excellent knowledge of English (at least C1)
In a few words
As head of the External Relations and Communication Division, you will be responsible for the strategic visibility and positioning of the FSO – with the general public, within national networks and on the international stage. You will shape the office’s image externally, ensure its influence within strategically important bodies and, as a member of the executive board, actively contribute to shaping its future. The division has a total of 70 qualified employees, including 5 direct reports.

The Federal Statistical Office (FSO) is the competence centre for public statistics and the main player in the Swiss data ecosystem. It produces statistical information, works towards data harmonisation through national data management and develops processes based on data science to advance data interpretation. The FSO thus contributes to shaping public opinion and makes an important contribution to modern democratic governance.
