Who are we?

Attached to the Directorate of Security, Justice and Sport, the Fribourg Cantonal Police has the general mission of ensuring public safety, maintaining order and enforcing laws.

It serves the population and the authorities. This is reflected 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, by the fulfilment of a large number of varied and demanding tasks: emergency interventions, offence reports, crime prevention, investigations, etc. The increasingly important role of the police in managing social problems requires tact and expertise from officers.

It is also responsible for ensuring road traffic safety. It provides security support to organisers of public events and assists cantonal and municipal authorities during serious incidents.

The Fribourg Cantonal Police is composed of two main bodies, the gendarmerie and the security police, and three divisions: command, logistics and IT, human resources and training.
