The Swiss Salvation Army Foundation is a non-profit social organisation and a Church, which supports people in difficult life situations in a simple and concrete way. At the heart of our mission: to accompany, welcome and offer prospects to those in need.

Throughout Switzerland, we develop and manage living and reception spaces with various uses (social, ecclesiastical, second-hand, housing), designed primarily to meet the needs of the people we support.

The Real Estate unit, based at the headquarters in Bern, actively contributes to this mission by providing suitable and sustainable infrastructure to support our social and human activities, and by ensuring the sustainability of our real estate assets.

Your area of responsibility

• Management and coordination of small to medium-sized construction projects (up to 500K) from defining the specifications to completion
• Representation of the client’s interests
• Overall responsibility for costs, deadlines and sustainability of assigned projects
• Drafting requests and mandates in German and French
• Ensuring the professional implementation of routine maintenance (planning, monitoring, coordination, execution and closure of approved projects)
• Responsibility for annual budgets related to maintenance of properties
• Close collaboration with users and the client
• Technical and accounting verification of invoices related to construction projects, including their allocation
• Support for regional property managers on technical construction issues
• Management of technical building documentation (plans, construction history, etc.)
• Monitoring developments in the construction market (materials, prices, trends, etc.)

What you bring

• Experience in site management with a craft background and planning experience
• Several years of experience in the construction sector
• Experience in managing and supervising contractors (construction projects)
• Pragmatic, confident and goal-oriented personality, with proven experience in planning and execution
• Structured working method, quick comprehension skills as well as analytical and flexible thinking
• Excellent social skills, negotiation sense, persuasiveness and organisational abilities
• Ability to manage projects holistically and effectively behind the scenes
• Ability to correctly assess complex situations and provide constructive solutions
• Good knowledge of French and German, both spoken and written
• Additional training in fire protection is an advantage
• Comfortable with digital tools in a largely digitalised work environment
• Interest in business travel and ability to work effectively on the move
• Commitment to the vision, mission and values of the Salvation Army
