Dial Engraver (M/F)

Job Description

The dial engraver apprentice works in the demanding world of watchmaking, where precision, meticulousness and aesthetic sense are essential. You will learn to decorate, print and enhance watch dials, delicate parts that require perfect mastery of gestures and techniques. With a good sense of observation and great rigour, the apprentice gradually develops the skills necessary to handle fragile dials, apply flawless decorations and ensure impeccable quality.

Main Tasks

Prepare the dials -- clean, degrease and prepare surfaces before decoration operations

Carry out printing -- perform printing by pad printing, screen printing or other dial-specific techniques

Apply decorations -- place markings, logos, indexes or patterns according to aesthetic and technical requirements

Perform varnishing operations -- apply layers of protective or decorative varnish respecting the required thicknesses and finishes

Control quality -- check alignment, sharpness, colour, gloss and absence of defects on the dials

Carry out touch-ups -- correct small imperfections or printing or decoration defects

Handle dials with precision -- work with extremely delicate parts respecting cleanliness and handling rules

Use specific tools and machines -- progressively master printing, drying, varnishing and control equipment

Respect aesthetic and technical standards -- apply the quality standards specific to watchmaking

Collaborate with other workshops -- liaise with decoration, control and assembly teams to ensure the coherence of the final product
