Construction Manager (German-speaking)

Our client, a global market leader in the production and process support of active pharmaceutical ingredients, both in the chemical and biotechnology sectors, is looking for a German-speaking Construction Manager for a 12-month contract (with possibility for extension) based in Valais area, Switzerland.

As Construction Manager and subject matter expert for Civil-Structural and Architectural (CSA) Engineering topics you take over the responsibility for construction management of investment projects of all sizes. In addition you take over design and project managing task for smaller investment and maintenance projects.

Main Responsibilities:

• Manage the construction site and bear operational responsibility during the construction and installation phase of an construction site
• Overall responsibility for coordinating all EHS issues on the construction site and requesting all necessary work method statements (SiMoKo’s) from the various contractors and checking them together with the EHS specialist. Being responsible for implementing the EHS Management System on the construction sites and assuring that the EHS system is effective by making regular site visits.
• Support the procurement process and ensure that aspects relevant to construction site safety are incorporated in the work to be performed.
• Ensure that plan specifications are respected and monitor the construction costs, schedule and quality.
• Organize the building inspections at the end of a construction project and be responsible for the correction of defects.
• Be responsible for the design and execution of smaller investment or maintenance projects as CSA subject matter expert. Prepare tender documents and carry out submission and award contracts together with procurement.
• Hands-on involvement in the creation and development of CSA standard documents. Making sure that standards and requirements are correctly incorporated.

Qualifications and Experience:

• Relevant working/residency permit or Swiss/EU-Citizenship required.
• Very driven to solve problems and meet the aligned goals.
• Flexibility, assertiveness, ability to work in a team.
• Ability to effectively prioritize and execute tasks in a fast paced environment.
• Skills and experience in working with matrix-based cross-function teams.
• Self-motivated and experienced at working both independently and in a team-oriented, collaborative environment is essential.
• Skilled in usual software tools e.g. MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, MS Office
• German C1 (required), English B1 (preferred)
