Job Description

Attached to the Directorate of the Penitentiary Service (SPEN), the intern supports the Communications Manager in implementing internal and external communication actions of the Service.

In a sensitive and constantly evolving institutional environment, he or she contributes to writing content, formatting information intended for the intranet, preparing publications for public channels, as well as monitoring communication actions. The intern also participates in promoting the Service's activities, organising events or communication actions, and maintaining media and digital statistics.

The Vaud Penitentiary Service manages and supervises the Sentence Enforcement Office and 6 penitentiary establishments under its authority. It ensures the execution of detention before and after sentencing in the canton of Vaud. It contributes to public safety while supporting the care of detainees with a view to responsibility and reintegration. The SPEN has 750 employees spread over several sites, working in a demanding institutional environment marked by human, security, organisational and significant communication challenges.

Responsibilities

  • Produce and adapt internal communication content (intranet articles, news and newsletter), ensure their formatting, and contribute to their illustration with simple photos and videos.

  • Support communication projects through research, content writing, administrative follow-up and participation in coordination and editorial calendar.
  • Contribute to the Service's external communication by writing content for the website and social networks.

  • Participate in the preparation and coordination of communication related to events, supporting materials, logistics and taking simple photos for internal use.

  • Ensure monitoring and analysis of media coverage.

  • Implement work processes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communication or journalism or equivalent qualification.

  • Excellent writing and summarising skills.

  • Strong interest in institutional, internal and digital communication.

  • Interest in Vaud political issues.

  • Good knowledge of Vaud institutions.

  • Critical thinking and initiative.

  • Driving licence.

6-month internship, paid CHF 1,820.90 / month.

Our employment conditions require you to be Swiss or hold a C permit, free of debt enforcement (an extract from the Debt Collection Office must be presented during the process), and your criminal record must be clean. There is a right to consult the criminal record under the Federal Law on the Criminal Record by the hiring authority for this position.
