Coal Purchase ManagerDescription of the companyFor one of our clients based in the Canton of Geneva, we are offering a position as:Coal Purchase ManagerFor a fixed-term a 100% workload.Description of the positionSourcing & Supplier Management- Identify and engage coal suppliers in line with commercial strategy and assess supplier proposals based on quality, pricing, and overall value.- Develop the supplier portfolio, including compliance checks, and ongoing performance reviews.- Lead commercial discussions and purchasing terms and conditions.- Work closely with internal stakeholders such as production, planning, and finance to align purchasing activities with business needs.- Provide logistics instructions to ensure timely delivery scheduling.- Monitor deliveries and ensure contractual commitments are met in terms of volume, quality, and timing.- Support follow-up to shipping performance, quality inspections, claims, and supplier audits.Risk Management & Planning- Contribute to the definition and implementation of risk management and hedging strategies adapted to commodity markets.- Provide forecasts on prices, volumes, and funding requirements to support purchasing and delivery planning.- Adhere to budget constraints related to procurement and payment flows.Contract & Reporting Oversight- Prepare, review, and follow up on supply contracts and purchase orders.- Ensure accurate data entry within procurement and financial systems.- Produce regular activity reports in line with internal reporting requirements.Market Intelligence & Business Development- Maintain active market awareness and identify potential new business opportunities.- Represent the company at industry events and maintain a strong external network.Profile- 5 to 10 years of experience in commodities trading or procurement, preferably within the coal and/or coke sector, with a solid understanding of global pricing mechanisms, freight dynamics, logistics, quality control, and financing.- Exposure to risk management and hedging combined with the ability to analyse global supply and demand trends and identify sourcing opportunities.- Knowledge of procurement practices, contract negotiation, supplier management, and value-based product assessment, within a structured trading environment.- Understanding of trade principles, contractual frameworks, maritime transport, and freight markets, including experience with letters of credit and payment instruments.- Strong analytical and negotiation skills, with the ability to manage supplier relationships across different markets and cultural backgrounds.- High level of integrity, attention to detail, and accountability, paired with a proactive and results-driven mindset.- Effective communicator comfortable working in cross-functional and multicultural environments, with willingness to travel.- Fluent in English; Russian and/or Ukrainian is considered an asset.- Swiss or EU citizenship or a valid Swiss work permit required. jid2d44983aen jit0727aen jpiy26aen
