Ready to take ownership of early-phase clinical trials while gaining the variety, autonomy and visibility that larger CROs often can't offer?
Join a boutique, early-phase CRO partnering with innovative biotechnology companies across a varied portfolio of clinical trials, including psychedelic medicine, respiratory disease, oncology and other therapeutic areas.
With a close-knit team of approximately 30-40 people, the company offers a collaborative, supportive culture where individuals can make a visible contribution. Unlike larger CRO environments, the role provides exposure to different responsibilities and opportunities to develop in areas that match your interests, including clinical project management.
The opportunity
We are looking for a Clinical Research Associate who can independently manage monitoring activities and contribute effectively from an early stage. You will work primarily on Phase I and Phase II studies, supporting small biotech sponsors across a range of therapeutic areas. Alongside site monitoring, the position will include elements of eTMF management and broader clinical trial responsibilities.
This could be an excellent opportunity for an experienced CRA seeking greater variety, autonomy and progression within a smaller organisation. Candidates with relevant academic research experience are also encouraged to apply, provided they have the practical monitoring experience required to work independently.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct site initiation, routine monitoring and close-out visits
- Perform source data verification and ensure study data are accurate and complete
- Maintain effective relationships with investigational sites and study teams
- Support eTMF maintenance and management
- Ensure studies are conducted in accordance with protocols, SOPs, GCP and applicable regulations
- Identify and help resolve site-level issues
- Contribute to broader clinical trial activities as required
- Collaborate closely with colleagues during regular office and training days
Key Skills and Requirements:
Essential:
- At least two years of CRA or relevant independent clinical monitoring experience
- The ability to manage monitoring activities without close supervision
- Experience conducting site visits and source data verification
- A good understanding of GCP and clinical trial processes
- Based in London or within practical travelling distance of London-based study sites
- An enthusiastic, adaptable and collaborative approach
- Comfortable working in a small, hands-on environment where priorities can change
Desirable:
- Early-phase clinical trial experience, particularly Phase I or Phase II
- Experience presenting or conducting site initiation visits
- Experience taking studies through to close-out
- eTMF management experience
- Clinical Trial Coordinator experience
- Exposure to oncology, respiratory, psychedelic medicine or other specialist therapeutic areas
Working pattern and travel
The role is hybrid, with in-person collaboration at the office on the first and third Tuesday of each month. Quarterly training sessions are also held in person and may coincide with an office day.
Monitoring sites are primarily located in London. Travel varies according to study activity, averaging approximately five visits per month and rarely exceeding two visits per week.
