Cantonal Food Safety InspectorAs a Cantonal Food Safety Inspector within the Office of Food Safety and Veterinary Affairs (OFCO), at the Department of Agriculture, Sustainability and Digital Affairs, you will carry out official controls and ensure compliance with legal requirements. You will conduct inspections, sampling, and analyses, and contribute to risk monitoring. You will supervise the team of inspectors and participate in its development. You will work in close collaboration with the Cantonal Chemist and contribute to decisions regarding consumer protection.- Manage and lead the corps of food and consumer goods inspectors and the staff of the Cantonal Office of Weights and Measures (BCPM).- Coordinate and ensure technical and scientific activities for the protection of consumers regarding food and consumer goods, throughout the cantonal territory.- Assist the Cantonal Chemist in the management of the Office and participate in the cross-functional steering of the Office as a member of management and Deputy Cantonal Chemist.- Anticipate and organize the continuing education of the staff of the corps of food and consumer goods inspectors and the staff of the Cantonal Office of Weights and Measures (BCPM).- Represent the food and consumer goods inspection service and ensure internal and external communication.For further information, please consult the job description by clicking here.- Degree in food science or a field related to food safety or an equivalent qualification.- Diploma in official food control (DCAl) and Diploma in management of official food control (DDCAl) (possibility to complete these during the first two years of employment).- Field experience and in-depth knowledge in the field of food safety of 5 years and/or recognized management experience.- Sense of responsibility and public service ethics.- Global vision and sense of organization and time management.- Conflict management.- Leadership.- Driver's license and availability of a private vehicle for professional travel.- Perform occasional inspections during the night, early morning, as well as on Saturdays and Sundays.WHO ARE WE?The Office of Food Safety and Veterinary Affairs (OFCO) has the mission of contributing to the protection of humans and animals as well as the proper functioning of economic activities.In this capacity, it ensures the safety of food and consumer goods, in order to guarantee that they do not present a risk to health.
