The University of Neuchâtel is advertising a position for an

Assistant to the Director of the Master in Museum Studies at 50%

to be filled within the Institute of Art History and Museology (IHAM).

IHAM is a leader in the field of museology education. Its Master in Museum Studies, which offers internationally recognised teaching, welcomes many international students. It has received the ICOM label for certified training in museology. From the start of the 2026 academic year, IHAM will offer a second programme in partnership with the École du Louvre in Paris: the International Master in Museum Studies.

Activities

As assistant to the Director of the Master in Museum Studies, you will be responsible for managing the programme’s partnerships. This includes overseeing the partnership with the École du Louvre and with museums, as well as drafting agreements related to museum projects.

You will also undertake various administrative tasks related to the operation of the Master’s programme, including managing the admissions process, coordinating student mobility, supporting the work of the Scientific Committee, and updating and archiving student records.

In the context of student support, you will advise students and establish educational contracts for additional studies. You will organise trips related to the museography seminars at the École du Louvre, manage internships, and provide necessary information regarding procedures and enrolments.

Finally, you will participate in organising the academic year’s start, particularly preparing the inaugural day. This activity includes drafting the programme, welcoming guests, communicating information to students, and presenting the general operation of the Master’s programme.

Desired profile

You hold a degree in humanities or museum studies, ideally complemented by professional experience within a museum. Comfortable with communication and writing in French, you possess excellent organisational skills and can manage priorities effectively. You work independently and demonstrate diplomacy in your relations with various partners. Knowledge of German is an asset.
