Apprentice laboratory technician CFC biology option The Vaud University Hospital Center (CHUV) is one of the five Swiss university hospitals and ranks among X hospital institutions in the world according to the Newsweek ranking. Thanks to its collaboration with the Faculty of Biology and Medicine at the University of Lausanne and EPFL, it plays a leading role in the fields of care, research, and the Pneumology Service’s research aims to improve our understanding of the mechanisms that regulate and the progression of allergic diseases with the central microbiome. Additionally, we aim to identify interventional approaches for pulmonary diseases, including asthma, cystic fibrosis, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, pulmonary fibrosis, as well as for pulmonary hypertension, and to optimize our standards of care through: You will learn basic techniques in cell and molecular biology (ELISA, PCR, flow cytometry, cell culture, etc.), as well as those allowing for the extraction and analysis of the microbiome. You will participate in experiments including sample preparation, cell or tissue processing, and monitoring biological trials. You will examine and analyze the structure, composition, and function of components taken from living organisms (animal models, human clinical studies). An interest in following the official basic training to handle animals (mice) is required. You will contribute to the maintenance and proper operation of the laboratory by ensuring the upkeep of equipment and facilities, and the ordering of consumables and reagents. You will write, analyze, and archive your experimental data (notebooks, databases). You will exchange scientific and technical information within the team and participate in the ongoing development of methods and practices: You have completed your schooling (VG level with good grades in scientific subjects or VP, preferred). You are precise, methodical, and meticulous, with a strong sense of hygiene and cleanliness. You possess a logical and rigorous mind, enjoy understanding how things work, and learn by doing, showing scientific curiosity and the ability to focus over time.
