The Library is a center of skills and expertise in scientific documentation, supporting the teaching and research missions of the unit “Digital repositories and archives” which is responsible for managing the institution's archives, as well as disseminating and promoting EPFL's scientific productions.MissionUnder the direction of the Head of the “Archives” Team, the Archive Specialist contributes to and implements the collection policy, processing, and enhancing the archives of EPFL. He/she independently performs the following tasks according to the team's priorities.Main tasks and responsibilities- Management of activity documents (records management) and collection deployment and the implementation of business reference frameworks and tools suited to the context and the X system.- Compliance with documentary management directives and good archival practices.- Support for users and depositing services for documentary management and archiving: overseeing deposits and management of intermediate archives, document transfer, archival fund management: control of deposits, sorting and physical arrangement of documents.- Classification and planning of classifications.- Analysis of documents/files, classification, implementation of preventive policy and monitoring integrity of collections, audits, diagnostic and analysis of needs, choice of solutions, and means.- Management of processing spaces: local and access rules, disaster prevention and management.- Electronic archives: management of storage, current collections: selection of furniture and packaging, storage, dusting, destruction.- Technical processing of media: document conservation and binding, disinfection, technical campaigns for the X system, deployment of the archival system (SIA) and electronic archiving system (SAE).- Development of scripts to enable processes (control, enrichment of tests and workflows for ingestion, processing, deposits, and dissemination) intended for internal or external audiences, support for service media towards departments.- Actions of dissemination (exhibitions, shifts at public service counters in the Library).ProfileKnowledge- Experience in an archive service.- Understanding of the academic and regulatory environment (missions, activities, and functioning of services) and its challenges.- Knowledge and/or understanding of the regulatory framework applicable to archives, metadata standards, and tools used in the archiving world, archiving software (SIA and SAE) and related tools (Archifiltre, Droid-).- Ease with common tools, particularly APIs.- Scripting and processing, ability to model workflows.Specific skills- Confidentiality and absolute discretion are essential in the exercise of this function.- Interest and a keen sense of public service, constant attention to the quality of services delivered.- Rigor, good personal organization, and ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities.- Listening ability, aptitude to communicate with diverse audiences, pedagogical skills.- Ability to establish relationships and networks, both internally and externally.- Ability to work independently and in a team.- Methodical, analytical and synthesis capacity, proactivity, open-mindedness, and adaptability to change.- Intellectual curiosity and eagerness to acquire new knowledge.- Proficiency in French, with good knowledge of English.Required level of education and experience- Higher education degree (university, HES) in archival science or equivalent, accompanied by initial experience.We offer- A friendly working atmosphere and a high-quality work environment.- Opportunity to be involved in innovative projects.For more information or the detailed job description, please contact Ms. X, Head of the Digital repositories and archives Unit: Start date: as soon as possible.Minimum rate: 80%.Maximum rate: 100%.Type of contract: CDI.Reference: jid0187569aen jit0208aen jpiy26aen
